Diving and Sai Kung

It’s been a while since my last post, been too busy with work to pick the camera up as much as I’d like! Passed my PADI openwater too, which was an excuse for me to get a GoPro. Don’t be too harsh, first ever time trying to string a video together:

Also some photos from around Sai Kung:

Lamma Island

Our second island excursion to the much larger Lamma…very similar vibe except for the power plant that dominates some scenes!

Cheung Chau

This week’s National Day holidays have allowed us to do a little travelling. First stop, Cheung Chau! Beautiful little island half an hour from Central via ferry, yet so far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Just one quick photo of lightning striking Central Plaza.. It’s technically not the best photo, but interesting none the less; the lightning has exposed the shutter curtain in a similar way to using too fast a shutter with a flashgun!

I’m sure you’ve all heard, but one or two students are currently blocking the roads here in an attempt to gain democratic elections. I took a walk through the middle of this to see what was happening.

Recluse Bay, Stanley…and pampered pooches!

Took a trip to Recluse Bay today, and then on to Stanley. This was our first visit to the south of the island, and it really is a different world. Very tranquil and no highrises in site, it’s a beautiful place to unwind. Also, there was some kind of dog show happening, and it appears that dogs are looked after as well (if not better!) than the humans here.

HSBC Building Abstracts and Squid Fishing

HSBC’s building is certainly a feature on the Hong Kong skyline. Here are a couple of abstract photos of it from today, as well as an excursion on a small boat to fish for squid. Not very successfully…between 18 of us we caught one, though it was very tasty!
